Darcy Higgins, DPT is a Doctor of Physical Therapy and a Human Movement Specialist. He is the Director of Move For Health (TM) Physical Therapy. He has provided personalized, hands-on physical therapy care in the Charlottesville area since 1990.
After 25 years of out-patient practice, Darcy returned to Physical Therapy school in 2015 to earn his Doctorate in Physical Therapy. His continuing education and research has focused on holistic evaluation and treatment including hands-on manual therapy, therapeutic and functional exercise, core stability and balance training, trigger point dry needling, and whole-body movement assessment to address the root cause of pain and movement disorders.
Darcy earned his Doctor of Physical Therapy degree from Shenandoah University. He also has a Master’s degree in Physical Therapy and Community Health from Old Dominion University and a Bachelor’s degree in Biology and Environmental Studies from Bowdoin College.
Darcy is a credentialed Clinical Instructor, a Performance Coach and a Functional Capacity Evaluator. He has performed more than 1,000 Functional Capacity Exams and more than 10,000 Functional Movement Assessments. He has additional Direct Access Certification.
Darcy and his wife, Kelly live in Charlottesville. They raised their daughter and son here and enjoy an active lifestyle with them and their son- and daugther-in-law in the nearby Blue Ridge mountains of Virginia. They are especially happy with the addition of their grandson to the family!
